Singularity by Tekkusai

Singularity Glass Mousepad

Glass mousepads have traditionally been premium products with price tags to match. This release from Tekkusai aims the push the boundaries of price, as compared to his other releases like The Beast which aims to push the limits of speed.

The Singularity is seemingly taking on a challenge that most companies aren't even considering, a glass mousepad that challenges premium competitors at the unprecedented price point of just $39. This pad is looking to be disrupting the glass pad market and in this review, we'll see if this glass pad will be worth your time and money.

Performance and Experience

In-Game Feel

The surface overall feels fantastic. I currently play Light and Medium with various different guns that challenge different aiming styles. The relatively low static friction and dynamic friction makes recoil control absolutely effortless. The stopping power it provides, I feel is a bit less than the PAN pad (which i will be compaing it to alot), but I do find it still controllable enough for me to target switch and even land flicks on enemies I am not expecting. Shaking upon stopping the mouse or any form of overflicking felt basically non existent during the time I've used this pad, but that is also due to me having a lot more experience using glass (about 2 years) so your experience may vary depending on how comfortable you are on glass pads and your overall skill.

Overall Feel

Ultraglide glass mat blend was really the best skates I found for this pad, this has been the smoothest pad I've used so far, beating both the Joker Game and PAN pad. Without any dust and on some moderately worn skates, the pad feels almost like an air hockey table, it absolutely shocked me how smooth it was. Initially I thought it was the same as the PAN pad, but after more usage, I found the experience to be quite different, and I actually preferred the smoother surface. Speed wise, it is quite balanced in a sense where nothing about this pad feels exaggerated. The static and dynamic friction do feel low due to it being glass, but provides you with enough stopping power for you to do both static and dynamic clicking scenarios quite well. Click timing guns like the Revolver and Pike from The Finals felt amazing as I didn't feel like I'm risking any bit of shaking or movement when just merely clicking, felt insanely stable.

Consistency

What really stands out about the Singularity is its exceptional consistency across the entire surface. There are no slow spots or variations in glide, something that can't always be said for other pads in this price range.

Skin contact

The Singularity provides superior gliding when your skin is making contact with the pad. Joker Game's uncoated pad and Pan's Coated pad still feels like your arm is still sticking alot and it is difficult to use without a sleeve. Although the Singularity is good enough to use for everyday tasks without a sleeve, I would still recommend a sleeve for gaming as it provides a much better experience. But this also means if you were to use your fingers as a source of stopping power, this would actually still be a great experience as your fingertips don't feel stuck to the pad.

Base and Printing

Base and Printing

The Singularity appears to use the same printing process and base material as other Taobao glass pads. However, there's one notable difference - the rubber base coverage is significantly better on the Singularity compared to both the Joker Game and PAN pads.

The full-coverage rubber base extends more completely to the edges, providing better print protection and a more uniform appearance. Despite this improved coverage, the pad can still move on the desk when significant force is applied.

Base Comparison

Singularity Base

Singularity's honeycomb base pattern

The Singularity uses a similar honeycomb rubber pattern, but with noticeably better edge-to-edge coverage. The rubber extends more uniformly to the edges, leaving less of the print exposed.

PAN/Joker Game Base

PAN pad honeycomb base pattern

The typical Taobao pad base uses a honeycomb rubber pattern that provides good desk adhesion but sometimes doesn't extend fully to the edges, leaving some of the print potentially vulnerable.

As for the print quality, it's roughly on par with other Taobao glass pads. The print itself is thin and located beneath the glass surface, which means it's protected from wear but still potentially vulnerable at the edges if they're not properly sealed.

Edge Handling

Edge Quality - The Main Differentiator

Where the Singularity truly stands apart from other budget glass pads is in its superior edge handling. The edges are significantly smoother and more rounded, providing not only a more premium look but also a better user experience with no sharp or rough spots.

The smooth, well-finished edges make the Singularity appear more like a premium product compared to its direct competitors. The rounded profile is more comfortable against the arm during use and gives the pad a more refined aesthetic overall.

Comparison to Competitors

Singularity Edges

Evenly rounded with clean finishing. The bottom printing is completely hidden by the precise edge work, giving a seamless appearance.

Singularity's smooth rounded edges

Joker Game / PAN Edges

Less refined with occasional unevenness. The bottom printing is sometimes visible at the edges, detracting from the overall premium feel.

Packaging

Premium Unboxing Experience

The Singularity offers a notably better unboxing experience compared to other budget glass pads. It arrives in a well-designed box clearly marked "Founders Edition," which adds to the premium feel of the product.

Singularity Founders Edition packaging

While the presentation is superior, it's worth noting that the Singularity doesn't include some of the extras that come with competitors like the PAN and Joker Game pads. There are no replacement mouse skates or cleaning cloths included, which are commonly found with the other options.

This represents a clear design choice - Tekkusai has focused on improving the core product and its presentation rather than including accessories that many users might already have or source separately.

Pricing and Conclusion

At just $39, the Singularity represents an incredible value proposition in the glass mousepad market. It is following the trend of providing greater accessibility, lowering the barrier to entry for people interested in experiencing the benefits of glass surfaces without investing $100+ in premium options.

$39 USD - An exceptional value

The Singularity offers a balanced surface that will appeal to most users, providing a safe introduction to glass mousepads without dramatic speed characteristics that might be difficult for newcomers to control. Its refined edges and consistent glide make it feel like a much more expensive product.

For those seeking even more speed than what the Singularity offers, premium options from Tekkusai/Glsswrks and other brands are still available, but they come at a significantly higher price point. For most users, the Singularity offers more than enough performance to satisfy their needs and experience glass to the point where they can decide they want to dive further down the rabbit hole.

This release marks an exciting shift in the glass mousepad market, with quality options becoming more affordable and accessible. The Singularity demonstrates that budget-friendly no longer has to mean compromised quality or performance.

Note: The Singularity will be restocked in waves in the coming future. Future batches will maintain the same size but may come at a slightly higher price point than this initial Founders Edition release.
